CCOHH has now become a rebuild construction program, and they utilize the money people receive from insurance, Road Home, or donations. CCOHH has advocates to help people with their rebuilding effort, and they also are training volunteers to be “skilled,” which means that they learn a skill such as insulation, plumbing, flooring, or other construction jobs. In order to volunteer, she says, go to CCANO.org, and you can go to the Operation Helping Hands webpage to see how you can help. They offer stipends for some short or long term volunteers, and they are also housed and are provided with food while working in New Orleans. Volunteers, she says, have a tremendous impact in New Orleans.
